The Technical Trainer is responsible for assessing technical training needs/gaps; constructing templates for curriculum design; developing and conducting training programs on both technical and soft skills topics; developing and implementing knowledge verification procedures; managing the training schedule; documenting training policies and procedures; tracking training metrics and results through trainee performance; and creating a comprehensive training plan.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for development and sourcing of training materials to meet specific needs.
Creates/updates new hire orientation for the company and ensures that new hires are provided with the orientation training.
Provides on-going product launch training for all project initiatives in the company.
Actively and continuously performs training needs/gap analysis for current processes and procedures.
Act as liaison with subject matter experts regarding instruction design for training aids such as online courses, videos, flow charts and handbooks.
Present training programs using recognized training techniques and adult learning principles and provide synopsis of training and course effectiveness to Manager and stakeholders as required.
Assist in the facilitation of learning through a variety of delivery methods including virtual training, on-the-job coaching, classroom instruction, one-to-one and blended learning strategies
Develops and maintains training and tracking system(s).
Sets training policy, procedures and ensures metrics are met.
Establish consistent, best practices approach to training.
Adapts and formulates training based on training feedback, knowledge of identified training needs, or changes in products, procedures, or services.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Minimum 2-3 years training experience, including training experience in a technical environment.
Experience in troubleshooting on a UNIX/Linux based mission critical environment.
Time management skills, capability to handle several projects on multiple timeframes.
Ability to come up to speed quickly in a complex technical environment.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, UNIX/LINUX.
Familiarity with internet based applications.
In-depth experience with courseware development tools and Learning Management Systems.
Understand the concept of domain name root registry and domain name service.
Good Understanding of:
Software development life cycle.
Familiarity with DB Systems.
Java Application and Registry tools (RTK – java, perl, c++) an asset.
Knowledge of firewall internet security solutions, networking, VPN, switches and routers.
TCP/IP and Conceptual understanding of general routing.
University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
