Service Now Application Developer

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Support Operations, responsible for detailed technical design and development of applications on the Afilias Service Now platform.


Convert business requirements into Service Now applications and workflows
Design, build, test and launch custom Service Now applications, forms and tables for the fulfillment of business needs
Perform Service Now administration responsibilities, including (but not limited to) platform upgrades, deployment of stock applications, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Service Now platform
Develop and deliver training programs relevant to Service Now use and administration at Afilias for administrators and end users
Analyse business processes and develop technical specifications for process optimization in Service Now
Act as on-call support for issues impacting the Afilias Service Now instance
Build custom integrations between Service Now and other Afilias tools and products
Support the team in ServiceNow operations like User/ Group administration, reporting, Metrics, SLAs, etc.
Leverage both proven and innovative technology approaches to solve challenging business problems
Provide technical assessments, written documentation and technical expertise
Contribute to continual service improvement by leveraging personal knowledge and best practice in solving complex business problems

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required

2+ years ServiceNow development experience (including some or all of the following: Core ITSM applications, Business Rules, Client Scripts, Custom Apps)
Strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform, including: core ITSM tables, Glide, scripting, and development methods.
2+ years web development, or prior experience developing ITSM solutions
Strong JavaScript development background including: core language and 3rd party libraries
Solid understanding of SOAP web services

Additional Desired Skills

ITILv3 Foundations Certification
Experience implementing scripted web services in ServiceNow
Experience with CMDB/Asset integrations in ServiceNow
SAML, Active Directory, LDAP

Mental and physical demands
work daily on a personal computer and attend meetings as necessary
frequently carry a mobile phone during non-normal working hours
sometimes work extended periods
concentrate under conditions of high stress and short deadlines

Working conditions
strong preference to work from standard "open-plan" office environment, though remote work is a possibility
